Revealing The Meaning of Suicide Testament Letter in Indonesian Online News Media

Abstract

Bunuh diri tidak mengenal usia, jenis kelamin, status sosial, dan jabatan. Bunuh diri juga dapat terjadi di mana saja dan kapan saja. Dilihat dari perjalanan hidup seseorang yang berbeda-berbeda, bunuh diri salah satu cara untuk mengakhiri hidupnya akibat banyak permasalahan atau beban yang dihadapi. Dalam kasus bunuh diri dengan meninggalkan surat wasiat perlu ditelusuri apakah korban yang menulis pesan tersebut ataukah orang lain. Maka perlu dicek faktor-faktor yang melatarbelakangi kejadian tersebut sehingga bisa mengetahui dan menyimpulkan mengapa terjadi peristiwa bunuh diri. Oleh karena itu, penelitian difokuskan pada wacana surat wasiat untuk menunjukkan penyebab bunuh diri dengan mencari informasi berkaitan dengan kasus bunuh diri tersebut, bagaimana lingkungan sosialnya dan menemukan unsur-unsur kebahasaan serta ciri-ciri kebahasaan wacana surat wasiat. Penelitian ini mengambil data surat wasiat bunuh diri karena surat wasiat bunuh diri adalah bukti pelaku bunuh diri yang memiliki pesan-pesan keinginan untuk diberikan kepada penerimanya. Oleh karena itu, penelitian mengambil tiga kasus bunuh diri meninggalkan surat wasiat sebagai data karena tiga kasus tersebut banyak terekspos di media online. Penelitian menggunakan analisis linguistik forensik, semantik, serta analisis wacana yang bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi penyebab orang menulis surat wasiat bunuh diri dan unsur kebahasaan wacana surat wasiat bunuh diri.

Suicide knows no age, gender, social status, and position. Suicide can happen anywhere and anytime. Judging from the life journey of a person who is different, suicide is one way to end his life due to the many problems or burdens he faces. In the case of suicide by leaving a will, it is necessary to investigate whether the victim wrote the message or someone else. So it is necessary to examine the factors behind the incident so that it can find out and conclude why the suicide incident occurred. Therefore, the research is focused on the discourse of wills to show the causes of suicide by seeking information related to the suicide case, how the social environment is and finding linguistic elements and linguistic characteristics of will discourse. This study takes data on suicide wills because suicide wills are evidence of suicide actors who have messages of desire to be given to their recipients. Therefore, the study took three cases of suicide leaving a will as data because these three cases were widely exposed in online media. The research uses forensic linguistic analysis, semantics, and discourse analysis which aims to identify the causes of people writing suicide wills and the linguistic elements of suicide wills discourse.
