Abstract


Indonesian functions as an essential communication tool in education and publication, so that the application of appropriate grammar is required. This article explains the function and categories of syntax in the news article "Suspects in Counterfeit Money Production at UIN Alauddin Makassar" published in Radar Kudus. The purpose of this research is to analyze the syntactic structure used in the news and how this structure contributes to the transmission of information. The research question is: "What syntactic categories are included in this message and how do they function in conveying information?" The research method used is qualitative with note-taking techniques, where the researcher identifies syntactic elements such as subjects, predicates, objects, and information in the message. The analysis found that the proper use of syntax makes the information about the counterfeit money production case clearer and helps readers better understand the context and details of the case. The conclusion of this research emphasizes that understanding the function and categories of syntax when creating a message is very important to improve communication effectiveness
