Perbedaan Psikologis Mahasiswa yang Mengikuti dan tidak Mengikuti Organisasi Kerohanian Islam

Abstract


Religious organizations can significantly influence students' psychological and social attitudes, potentially motivating them toward extremism, which in turn can impact their multicultural perspectives. This study investigates the differences in multicultural attitudes and religious orientations among undergraduate Muslim students who are affiliated and unaffiliated with Islamic religious organizations. Using a comparative between-subject research design, data were collected through two self-report measures: the Multicultural Attitude Scale Questionnaire (MASQUE) and the Allport-Ross Orientation Scale (AROS). The study involved 185 participants, consisting of 34 affiliated students (18.4%) and 151 unaffiliated students (81.6%). The results reveal significant differences in intrinsic and extrinsic religious orientations between the groups. Affiliated students exhibited stronger intrinsic orientations, reflecting a deeper internalization of religious values, while unaffiliated students displayed higher extrinsic orientations, indicating external motivations for religious engagement. However, no significant differences in multicultural attitudes were found between the two groups, highlighting the complexity of religious influences on multicultural perspectives.


Organisasi kerohanian dapat memengaruhi sikap psikologis dan sosial mahasiswa, termasuk mendorong kecenderungan terhadap ekstremisme yang dapat berdampak pada perspektif multikultural mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi perbedaan sikap multikultural dan orientasi religiusitas antara mahasiswa muslim yang tergabung dan tidak tergabung dalam organisasi kerohanian Islam. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain komparatif between-subject dengan dua alat ukur, yaitu Multicultural Attitude Scale Questionnaire (MASQUE) dan Allport-Ross Orientation Scale (AROS). Partisipan terdiri dari 185 mahasiswa, termasuk 34 mahasiswa yang mengikuti organisasi kerohanian (18,4%) dan 151 mahasiswa yang tidak mengikuti (81,6%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signifikan dalam orientasi religiusitas intrinsik dan ekstrinsik antara kedua kelompok. Mahasiswa yang tergabung dalam organisasi kerohanian menunjukkan orientasi intrinsik yang lebih kuat, mencerminkan internalisasi nilai-nilai religius yang mendalam, sedangkan mahasiswa yang tidak tergabung memiliki orientasi ekstrinsik yang lebih tinggi, yang mengindikasikan motivasi eksternal dalam keterlibatan keagamaan. Namun, tidak ditemukan perbedaan signifikan dalam sikap multikultural antara kedua kelompok, yang menunjukkan kompleksitas pengaruh agama terhadap perspektif multikultural.
