Abstract


Syntax is an important study in linguistics that focuses on the structure and relationships between sentences. This research aims to analyze the function, category and role of syntax in news. The method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques using library research and note-taking methods. Analysis is carried out to identify syntactic functions (object, predicate, object, complement, and adverb), word categories (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, and others). As well as the respective roles of each element in building the meaning of the sentence. The research results show that this article dominates the sentence pattern, and the function description provides clarity of information. Sentence pattern variants were also found to support the effectiveness of presenting information to readers. Researchers hope that research can help educate regarding the role of syntax.
