Coping Stress pada Ibu dengan Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus

Abstract


This study aims to determine stress coping in mother with special needs children. This study uses a qualitative phenomenological method using data collection techniques through frankly and covert observation and structured interview. There are three informants in this study whose are mother with special needs children. The results showed that among the three informants had different coping stress. The coping stress that was owned by informant I; mother with down syndrom and cerebral palsy child was more oriented to problem focus coping. Informant try to provide the best and concrete solutions for her child conditions by bringing her child to a growth and development therapy center, often assisting doctors, psychologists, and parents with other children with special needs to better understand and provide appropriate treatment for their child's condition, and involve family members to help her duty. The second informant; mother with ADHD child has stress coping which is more oriented to problem focus coping. This informant can reach this stage; quite sincere accepted and keep struggle to give the best therapy for her chid. Informant III; mother with cerebral palsy child has more oriented to emotional focus coping because after his son was taken to consult a neurologist and child development therapy, his condition was getting better,so for now informant more focused on trying to fulfill all his child's wishes for not bothered with her child’s conditions.


Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui coping stress pada ibu dengan anak berkebutuhan khusus. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif fenomenologis dengan teknik pengumpulan data observasi terus terang dan tersamar serta wawancara terstruktur. Informan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah tiga orang ibu yang memiliki anak berkebutuhan khusus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ketiga informan memiliki coping stress yang berbeda. Coping stress yang dimiliki oleh informan I; ibu dengan anak berkebutuhan khusus down syndrom dan cerebral palsy lebih berorientasi pada problem focus coping. Informan berusaha memberikan yang terbaik untuk anaknya dengan membawa anaknya ke pusat terapi tumbuh kembang, sering berkonsultasi dengan dokter, psikolog, serta orang tua dengan ABK lain untuk dapat lebih memahami dan memberikan perlakuan yang tepat bagi anaknya, serta melibatkan anggota keluarga untuk membantu meringankan tugasnya. Informan II; ibu dengan anak berkebutuhan khusus ADHD memiliki coping stress yang lebih berorientasi pada problem focus coping. Informan sudah dapat menerima kondisi anaknya, sehingga sekarang lebih sungguh-sungguh berusaha memberikan terapi yang terbaik bagi anaknya. Informan III; ibu dengan anak yang mengalami cerebral palsy untuk saat ini lebih memilih coping stress yang berorientasi pada emotional focus coping, karena setelah anaknya dibawa berkonsultasi ke dokter syaraf dan terapi tumbuh kembang anak kondisinya semakin membaik, sehingga untuk saat ini informan lebih fokus untuk menuruti semua keinginan anaknya agar tidak repot dengan keadaan anaknya.
